Ava's obstacle course

Today Ava made an obstacle course out of our loose parts outside.  She demonstrated to the other children how to do the course.  She inspired lots of the other children and they were soon having a go go to!  Even Mrs Johnson had a go!

Teddy Bear's Picnic

For the past two weeks Ava's literacy group has been reading and writing and learning about bears.  Not only real bears such as panda or grizzly bears but also bears we love and have at home such as our teddy bears.

We all decided we would love to take our teddy bears on a teddy bear picnic at school.  Sadly it was raining but we still had fun with a picnic inside.
The teddies watched us do our writing.  I am sure they were impressed with our rhyming words.

We read our book 'Mother Bear's Scarf' to our teddies.  What a fun picnic.  We hope to do this again!

Working Hard On Achieving My New Writing Goal

Ava wrote a story about her Teddy Bear today.  We loved hearing about Sparkles and how she likes to eat ice cream.  Ava has a new writing goal and she is already working so hard  on achieving it.

Achieving my Writing Goal

Ava has been working really hard on her writing goal and is very good at writing the first sounds in words.  She is even starting to write in other sounds she can hear.

Ava's new learning goal is to write all the sounds she can hear in order.  Keep up the great effort Ava!

Achieving My Maths Goals

Ava has been working really hard on her Maths goals. She achieved her goal of recognising the numbers before and after to 10.

Next, Ava decided to work on counting backwards from 20. She learnt this goal quickly. Today she decided her new goal will be to recognise odd and even numbers.

Playing Co-operatively

Brayden and Ava decided to play with the skittles outside.  Brayden saw a line on the concrete and thought that would be a great place to line up the skittles.  Once Ava and Brayden lined the skittles up Ava counted them.  She discovered that there were 16 skittles.  Brayden made the rule of standing on the ring when you rolled the ball to make sure the game was fair.  Both Brayden and Ava showed wonderful turn taking and helping each other to stand the skittles up again.

Sharing Equally

In maths we have been learning about sharing equally.  Today we used pretend pizza bases to help us learn how to share equally into halves and in quarters.  We made pizza toppings with  play dough.  We then shared these toppings equally in halves and in quarters.  We discovered that if you can skip count it sometimes helps to work out how many toppings in each section of the pizza quicker.
